Home Made Turmeric Lemsip

 

Homemade Lem-sip

 

Don't wait till you have a sore throat to make this delicious pick-me-up. Use fresh turmeric if you can, root ginger, fresh lemon, a pinch of pepper and a tablespoon of honey. 

 

Simply add very hot (not boiling) water to the juice and pieces of half a large lemon and 3 ‘coins’ of fresh ginger. Stir in a large tablespoon of honey, add a pinch of black pepper and a healthy grating of fresh root of turmeric. Use 1/4 tsp of dried turmeric if no fresh root available. Allow to muddle for 5 minutes before sipping slowing and breathing a sigh of relief. You can find fresh turmeric route in many Indian and Caribbean supermarkets, as well as health food shops, but at a much higher premium. It's anti-inflammatory properties are spectacular, so make a habit of drinking this elixir and your immune system will thank you this year ;-).
